Anti-Social Behaviour Campaign Launched
FOLLOWING the success of last year’s summer anti-social behaviour campaign Hart District Council and Hampshire County Council are joining forces with the local police to make this year’s campaign even more successful.
The campaign is running from now until August 27 with patrol plans for all three agencies already in place.
Last year’s three month operation saw a decrease in anti-social behaviour incidents of 17 per cent compared to 2008.
The heart of the campaign relies on patrolling officers tackling anti-social behaviour by asking for names and addresses of those found causing problems in the district, as well as confiscating any alcohol from minors. Any individuals causing a problem are then referred onto the Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, which is initially followed by a letter home to parents or the individuals themselves if they are over 18.
Should they continue to come to the council’s attention for committing anti-social behaviour, further action is taken.
Hart has been working with all local senior schools in an effort to educate young people about the consequences of anti-social behaviour, as well as the importance of personal safety, wellbeing, and raising awareness of the negative impact that poor behaviour can have on the community at large.
Diversionary activities provided by Hart and other partner agencies will be running throughout the summer, and are aimed at steering young people into positive activities. These include Soccer at Six and the Get With scheme, details of which are available at www.saferhart.co.uk.
