Conservation Volunteering With Hart District Council Countryside Service
Hart District Councils Countryside Service manages nature reserves spread throughout the district, the majority of which host conservation volunteer days on a regular basis. Not only do these events allow vital conservation work to be carried out on the reserves, enhancing their value for native flora, fauna and the public but also go a long way to ensuring the reserves' survival for future generations to enjoy.
If you are looking to help your local environment, or considering entering into a career in conservation, experience can be gained from attending volunteer days; all tasks and activities are explained and supervised by the site Countryside Ranger or trained leader. Accumulating volunteer hours for Trident and Duke of Edinburgh award schemes, or the simple feeling that you are giving something back into your local community are all realistic rewards.
All tasks are weather dependent and may be revised at short notice. Dogs are not permitted and we ask that an adult accompany all under 16 -year olds. All ages and abilities welcome.
When you come along please wear old outdoor clothing. Waterproof boots or wellies are also advisable, as some working conditions may be wet. Please bring any food or drink that you may need throughout the day. The Countryside Service will supply all tools and gloves.
For informal chats about any of these activities please feel free to contact the Countryside Rangers on 01252 623443, or via email: countryside@hart.gov.uk
