Waste Management
Hart District Council has shown a leading role in waste management with many new and innovative projects and schemes being put into practice.
Hart have introduced the Final Phase of Kerbside Glass Collection.
From the week beginning 4th February 2008 Hart began collecting glass from every household in the District. With the introduction of a new 7.5 tonne glass vehicle Hart is now able to collect from properties in outlying and hard to reach areas which we had not been able to include in the kerbside scheme. Glass crates were delivered to these properties in January 2008.
Glass crates are emptied on the same day as the blue recycling bin, and should be placed at kerbside by 6:30am on the day of collection.
For more information on the kerbside glass collection please click on the following link, kerbside glass collection.
Changes to Black and Blue Bin Collections
Some changes to collection days were also introduced, households affected by these changes received a letter detailing the changes to their collection days.
These changes are necessary to allow the Council to provide a more efficient, reliable and effective service. Most of these changes affected the day of collection within the same week but some changes reversed black and blue collection weeks, with black bins collected during the week when the blues were normally collected and vice versa.
To find out if your property was affected by these changes please click on the postcode link below using the first 4 characters of your postcode. If your postcode or road is not listed then the changes did not affect your property (press your browser 'back' button when finished):

The Council is a partner in Project Integra; the first integrated waste management strategy, in England. In short, this is a project which has all the district and unitary councils in Hampshire, including the County Council and its waste management contractor, working together to tackle waste generated in Hampshire.
Project Integra was awarded Beacon Council status by the Government in 2000 in recognition of the pioneering work of all its partners in waste management.
