Planning Applications

In the financial year 2007/08 the Council determined 1352 applications that are counted for statistical purposes. Applications are divided into 3 categories; ‘major’ (10 dwellings or more, or 1000 square metres or more of commercial space); ‘minor’ (1-9 dwellings and less than 1000 square metres of commercial floor space); and ‘other’ (the remainder, including householder proposals).

Set against the Governments targets,(the percentage of applications dealt with in 13 weeks for ‘major’ and 8 weeks for ‘minor’ and ‘other’, the Councils performance in 2007/08 was (targets in brackets):-

Majors – 72% (60%),        Minor  78% (65%),        Other   84% (80%)
