Grass Cutting
The grass is cut between the months of March to October to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.
The majority of grass is cut under contract for Hampshire County Council on their highway verges, these make up the majority of grass cutting in the district.
The grass cutting teams are instructed to cut and strim the grass and then blow back the arisings back onto the verge, this helps to reduce nutrient loss.
Areas not cut under the grounds maintenance arrangements - please contact the relevant Parish Council if you have any issues with grass cutting in the following areas:-
- parks
- town centres
- memorial gardens
- sports pitches
- cemeteries
- housing association land
