Fouling
Hart Dog Fouling Order 2001
On 1st December 2001 new dog fouling controls came into force in the District. The controls require all dog owners to clear up after their dogs in all areas of the district, other than:
- Land used for agriculture or for woodlands
- Land which is predominately marshland, moor or heath
- Rural common land
Fines for failure to clear up after a dog can be up to £1000. Hart maintains a policy of prosecuting offenders where there is sufficient evidence. Registered blind people are excluded from this legislation.
If you are aware of particular areas with dog fouling problems please contact the dog warden service. We can also consider whether signs should be put up or special dog waste bins should be provided.
Information leaflets are available, or advice can be given in specific cases.
