Service Charter
One area of activity is the Dog Warden Service, where Hart:
- advises, and responds to requests to give talks, on responsible dog ownership
- collects stray dogs
- finds good homes for strays which are not claimed
- notifies the police and neighbouring local authorities with details of strays found in the district
- returns stray dogs to their owners oenforces the Dog Fouling laws where they apply within Hart District
- monitors the district for contamination of public places by dog mess and takes remedial action
- takes formal action against offenders where other action is unsuccessful
- advises on control of noisy dogs
- takes action under the Dangerous Dogs Act
Our Standards
We undertake to:
- immediately respond to dangerous dog incidents
- collect within one working day a stray dog which has been found and is now restrained and under control
- pass information about strays to neighbouring local authorities and the police within three working days
- return stray dogs to their owners within two working days of being claimed on receipt of proof of ownership and full payment of our fees (current charges available on request)
- respond within three working days of receipt of other requests for service, although for letters, which often contain more complex requests, we will respond within a maximum of ten working days
- try to advise you of the options available to you if we are unable to help with your enquiry ocarry out surveys to discover the underlying needs of our customers
