Community Wardens
Community Wardens have recently been introduced in Hart, whose aim it is to help to build a safer hart while improving a sense of community spirit.
Why have wardens?'
'Safer Harts' Community Wardens have been employed to improve the appearance of public areas, help reduce crime and build community confidence. They will also work together with different generations in an attempt to bridge the gap between young and old, helping to reduce the fear of crime.
How will I recognise the Wardens?
Our wardens will be visible throughout the district on a day-to-day basis visiting a variety of locations and responding to calls. They will be dressed in Black trousers and a white polo shirt, with either a maroon fleece bearing the 'Safer Hart' logo or a big jacket, which says community warden.
How will they help?
The Community Wardens will work with you to help resolve your concerns about the area or any problems you may be experiencing. They will also be promoting community safety, and responsible citizenship, and noting environmental improvements, whilst helping to organise and facilitate community events.
How can I help?
The wardens work will be partially led by community priorities. Residents can help set these priorities by bringing particular issues to the attention of the wardens. The wardens will not be able to make large changes to the district on their own, they need the help of local residents, therefore the more input and help they receive from the community the more able they are to make a difference.

The Community Wardens describe their role as:-
A community warden's job is to work within local communities to improve the environment and the lives of people where they live, by helping to : -
Reduce crime and the causes of crime. Encourage and assist in a sense of ownership within communities. Support those suffering as a result of anti-social behaviour. Work with young people to prevent and deter them from entering into crime, disorder or anti-social behaviour
Richard Denham
Community Wardens aim to achieve this by :
Carrying out day and night-time patrols, reporting suspicious behaviour to the police, reporting environmental and maintenance problems to the relevant authorities, responding to incidents of anti-social behaviour, visiting elderly and vulnerable residents, visiting local schools to educate young people on the dangers of becoming involved in crime disorder and anti-social behaviour and also how to avoid becoming a victim themselves, working with other agencies to engage young people in an attempt to prevent anti-social behaviour.
