Future of Affordable Housing in the South East of England
The Regional Housing Board has drafted a strategy review for consultation on the future of affordable housing in the South East of England. If you would like to find out more information on this please download the pdf document from the downloads section to the right.
The Housing Strategy is a 3 year plan showing how Hart will be approaching housing issues in the area for all housing tenures. It consists of an analysis of housing need in Hart and an action plan of how Hart and its partners will address those needs.
The strategy has been developed for a number of reasons:
- To identify the main local, sub-regional, regional and national priorities that may affect Hart over the next few years
- To work with the Council’s partners to develop ways to address these issues and set targets for ourselves
- To show how the Council has performed against priorities and targets set previously
- To demonstrate how the Council is making best use of the resources available to the Council and our partners
The Housing Strategy is a working document and will be constantly developing in response to local need to ensure it continues to be a useful, informative tool for local housing issues.
The Housing Strategy sets out:
- What the Council wants to achieve and what our priorities for action are
- Why the Council has chosen these priorities
- Who the Council is working with to achieve these priorities
- How the Council will deliver the actions and results and When we will deliver them
The research and consultation carried out to inform the housing strategy has led the housing service and stakeholders to identify 7 main housing priorities to be addressed in Hart. They are:
1. Maximising the supply and choice of new housing to meet local needs
2. To make the best use of all existing housing stock to meet the requirements of Hart District including a review of the housing register
3. To ensure that appropriate and timely housing advice and support services are available for homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless
4. To ensure that appropriate housing and support services are available for people with specialist housing requirements
5. To improve the standards within the housing stock for all tenures
6. To ensure housing contributes to improving the local environment we live in
7. To action the Council’s Equality and Diversity Commitment
