Change in Circumstances
If you are receiving Housing Benefit and circumstances change, you should write to us straightaway. If you do not tell us within one calendar month of the change, you may lose benefit if the change increases your entitlement. If the change decreases your entitlement, you may have been overpaid and will have to repay.
Examples of Change in circumstances that you must tell us,
- change in your tenancy or rent
- changes to your income or the income of anyone living with you including qualifying for a new benefit or a benefit ending
- any changes to the number of people living with you
- if you move to a different accommodation
- if you are likely to be away from your home for 13 weeks or more
- If your savings go above £6000
This list is not exhaustive. If in doubt, let us know of any change and we will confirm if it affect your benefit.
