Applying for a Road Closure
To apply for a temporary road closure please use the link in the downloads section to our application form.
Typically, a temporary road closure can take up to four weeks to secure due to the need to advertise closure notices within the local press. Please be aware that a failure to provide the information requested within the application form could result in delays in processing the application.
Please also note that the Highway Authority (Hampshire County Council) requires the applicant to carry Public Liability Insurance to the value of £10 million per claim. In completing and returning the application form you are confirming that the applicant has the necessary Public Liability Insurance; and that they agree to meet the Council’s costs associated with the proposed road(s) closure(s), which are as follows:
|
Legal/technical/admin costs associated with processing the proposed closure and checking/agreeing the alternative route proposals
|
£275 plus VAT |
| Advertisement costs associated with publishing of closure notices in local press |
approx. £400 (this figure will vary depending on the size of advert required within local press) |
As the applicant you will also be responsible for the signing of the road closure and the diversion route.
