Street Parties
To help residents host street-parties with the minimum of fuss and red tape we are relaxing some of the normal procedures for street closures. However, the safety of everyone is paramount and organisers are reminded that in most cases some level of traffic management is still likely to be necessary, and an awareness of the normal guidelines should be observed. Guidance Notes
The Council will consider all applications and split them into two categories:
A street party on a quiet residential road or cul-de-sac, organised by and for residents. Application Form
A street party in a quiet residential road or cul-de-sac which is self-organised as a private event for residents/neighbours only and where no selling is involved will not attract any charges and no formal risk assessment will be required. This waiver will apply where the event is supported by the majority of the residents. The Council strongly recommend Public Liability Insurance but will not insist on it.
A street party held on any main road, bus route or through route.(Needs two forms, SAG Form and Traffic Management Form)
Events on main roads, bus routes or through routes will require a full road closure. There will be no administration charge but all other costs eg. costs for traffic management and diversion signing will be at the expense of the organiser. Public Liability Insurance for £10m will be required.
Use of Open Spaces for Community Events
Application Form
The Council has decided that no hire charges will be applied or public liability insurance required when using open space to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. (However, organisers may wish to consider opting for insurance to protect their interests).
If you would like to hold a street party on your local open space (which doesn't require a road closure) please fill out the application for a small community event (Form SCE1) to advise the Council of your event plans for the Diamond Jubilee.
All applications to be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to event
The forms should either be emailed to highways@hart.gov.uk or sent to “Street Parties”, Technical & Environmental Services Department, Civic Offices, Harlington Way, Fleet. GU51 4AE
