Health and Safety
If you have responsibility for the repair and maintenance of premises you'll need to know how to comply with the Duty to Manage Asbestos.
The Environmental Health commercial team aim to reduce risks of accidents, injuries and ill health due to workplaces and practices in Hart
We:-
- inspect workplaces throughout the district
- investigate accidents and dangerous occurrences
- ensure premises used as places of public entertainment or for marriage ceremonies meet the necessary safety standards to hold a licence
- advise employers on health at work policies e.g. no smoking, alcohol
- ensure door supervisors at licensed premises are suitable and adequately trained to be registered for their roles
- undertake special projects to develop best practice guidelines e.g. for launderettes, cooling towers run a range of training courses on health and safety issues
- Produce guides on safe events
Information on health risks associated with air conditioning:
Air handling units within buildings may be linked to air conditioning systems. Some air conditioning systems e.g. those which use evaporative cooling, may pose potential health risks if not properly maintained. The message is therefore "make sure your air handling units are servied at appropriate intervals, and follow the instructions by the supplier or manufacturer".
If you are concerned about safety issues in your workplace, we may be able to help.
The places we can get involved with are: offices, shops, warehouses, restaurants, public houses, hotels, cinemas, theatres, builders merchants, tyre and exhaust fitting centres, sports clubs, gyms and swimming pools, undertakers, churches, and anywhere that "SpecialTreatments" are carried out (ear piercing, tattooing etc.)
Email us on eh@hart.gov.uk. or call us on 01252 774421 if you have an enquiry or you are concerned about health and safety standards or licences in any of these places in Hart.
